Jona Viray says trying to reconcile with her estranged mother

Singer Jona Viray shared that she has begun reconciling with her mother, Arlene, who left their family when she was ten years old.

“Ngayon po masasabi ko po na open na po ‘yung puso ko for reconciliation,” she said, recalling that she invited her mother to celebrate Mother’s Day and Christmas at her farmhouse in Tanay last year.

“’Yun po unti-unti pong nagkakaroon talaga ng reconciliation,” she added.

Jona admitted she has not yet asked her mother why she left, saying she is focused on moving forward, adding she may one day find the courage to ask when emotions have settled.

She acknowledged that forgiveness took time, calling it a difficult process shaped by deep emotional wounds. With help from her manager, Erlina, whom she calls her “mommager,” Jona said she learned to let go of bitterness and hold on to good memories.

“Ginawa nila ‘yung best nila para palakihin kayo so parang dun na rin po ako nag-hold on sa ganung mga  magagagandang memories,“ Jona shared.

She added that she now hopes to build stronger bonds with her half-siblings and family.
