The advisory follows reports of alleged overpricing and unfair treatment of travelers and workers affected by recent disasters.

The DOT urged establishments not to impose unreasonable price hikes on accommodation, food, or other services. It also encouraged the adoption of flexible booking and cancellation policies for guests whose travel plans were disrupted.

The agency stressed that tourism is a platform for service and compassion, saying businesses must ensure travelers, evacuees, and responders find comfort and dignity during emergencies. Overpricing or refusal of service contradicts the Filipino brand of hospitality. Othel V. Campos

Establishments were also reminded to inform guests of any facility damage or operational issues that might affect their stay. The DOT continues to coordinate with local governments and other agencies to ensure compliance with fair pricing standards.

Through its regional offices, the DOT said it is also working with partners to assist affected tourism workers and include them in relief and livelihood programs.
