British actor Jonathan Bailey has been named People magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive for 2025, becoming the first openly gay man to receive the honor.
The announcement was made on Nov. 3 during The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
“It’s a huge honor. I’m incredibly flattered — and it’s completely absurd,” Bailey told People.
The magazine praised the ‘Bridgerton’ star as “brimming with wit, warmth, and almost unfairly handsome looks” in a post on Instagram.
Bailey revealed that he had been keeping the news a secret.
“I’m quite excited for some friends and family to find out,” he said.
When asked if he had told anyone, Bailey joked:
“I told my dog Benson, who joined me at the shoot. But no, I haven’t.”
The 37-year-old actor is best known for his role as Anthony Bridgerton in Netflix’s hit series ‘Bridgerton.’ He is also set to appear as Fiyero in ‘Wicked: For Good,’ which opens in theaters on Nov. 19.
