The Makati City government is allocating P34 million in financial assistance to support areas severely impacted by recent earthquakes and typhoons.
Mayor Nancy Binay made the announcement following the city council’s approval of City Resolutions 2025-A-017 and 2025-A-018 on October 13.
“We in the City of Makati support and pray for the victims of the recent earthquakes and typhoons. We want to show them empathy and give them hope as they rebuild their lives and communities,” she said in a statement.
Of the total amount, P13.5 million is allotted to the localities in Cebu following the magnitude 6.9 earthquake, while P20.5 million is allotted to the different local governments affected by the combined effects of Southwest Monsoon, Tropical Cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and Opong.
Of the P13.5 million, P2.25 million will be given to the Provincial Government of Cebu, while P1.5 million each is allotted to Bantayan, Bogo, Daanbantayan, Madridejos, Medellin, and San Remigio.
P1 million each will be given to Catmon and Sogod, while Borbon is set to receive P250 thousand.
In addition to financial assistance, the Makati Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office had also deployed a 12-man search and rescue team with complete gear to assist with relief and recovery operations in the province.
Some 38 LGUs affected by the combined effects of Southwest Monsoon, Tropical Cyclones Mirasol, Nando, and Opong are also set to receive a total of P20.5 million. This includes P1 million each for Baco and Pola in Oriental Mindoro; Aroroy, Masbate City, and Uson in Masbate; Ibajay in Aklan; and Pagalungan in Maguindanao del Sur.
A total of P750 thousand each will be given to Claveria in Cagayan; Bansud in Oriental Mindoro; Cawayan, Mandaon, Milagros, Mobo, and San Jacinto in Masbate.
Financial assistance worth P500 thousand each will be given to the LGUs of Aparri and Calayan in Cagayan; Bulalacao (San Pedro) and Pinamalayan in Oriental Mindoro; Baleno, Cataingan, Dimasalang, Palanas, and Placer in Masbate.
Meanwhile, the LGUs of Cajidiocan, Calatrava, Romblon, San Agustin, and San Andres in Romblon; Bongabong, Gloria, Mansalay, and Naujan in Oriental Mindoro; Balud, Batuan, Esperanza, Pio V. Corpus, San Fernando, and San Pascual in Masbate will each receive P200 thousand.
Under the Philippine DRRM Act of 2010, the local DRRM Council may transfer funds to support other local government units which are declared under a state of calamity, upon the approval of the Sanggunian concerned.
