THE Makati City government has forged an agreement with the University of Santo Tomas (UST) to provide full scholarship grants for 25 public elementary school Science teachers under the TEACH (Teacher Effectiveness and Competence Honing) Program.
The local government alloted ₱1.5 million to enable the teachers to go through UST’s Certificate in Science Teaching Program which is a six-month, 27-unit post-baccalaureate course designed to provide a sound theoretical foundation on science content and professional education.
“Education is the greatest equalizer,” Mayor Nancy Binay said during the agreement signing at the Makati City Hall.
“By educating the educators, we will be able to enhance the capacities of our teachers and equip them with the knowledge and skills to better teach Makati’s young students in the field of science and technology,” she added.
