DHSUD hurries construction of ‘Bayanihan Village’ in Davao Oriental

The establishment of Bayanihan Village in Davao Oriental is now in full swing to provide a safer and comfortable refuge to families rendered homeless by the recent earthquake, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DSHUD) announced.

In a statement on Sunday,  Housing czar Jose Ramon Aliling said modular houses are now being installed at a local government unit-identified site in Barrio Poblacion, Tarragona town.

“President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. desires to provide safer and more comfortable shelter for the Davao earthquake victims, which is why DHSUD is taking immediate action, alongside other government agencies, in building a Bayanihan Village in the town of Tarragona,” he said.

“Expect that in the coming days we will be able to build modular houses so that our countrymen can benefit,” he added.

The establishment of the Bayanihan Village in Barrio Poblacion started immediately after the President, accompanied by Aliling and other key Cabinet officials, visited Tarragona and other quake-affected towns in Davao Oriental last October 13.

The DSWD-Regional Office 11 subsequently started the installation of the modular shelters intended for families displaced by the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that rocked Davao Oriental on October 10.
