Mornings with Alden, Barbie, and David

We caught up with Alden Richards, Barbie Forteza, and David Licauco during McDonald’s World Egg Day celebration at its McKinley West branch in Taguig City, where the three brand ambassadors took turns taking and serving breakfast orders from excited customers.

“Happy World Egg Day to everyone!” Alden greeted as he served breakfast.

Speaking with Manila Standard Life, the 33-year-old actor said he likes his eggs sunny-side up and scrambled.

“It’s perfect when it’s slightly runny and cooked just right,” he explained. He typically eats two eggs a day and increases his intake when preparing for upcoming projects.

Alden’s mornings begin early. “Wake up, pray, fix my bed, then wipe my dog,” he shared. “After that, I take my coffee, then breakfast before cycling. That all happens between 5:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m.”

Since he started cycling, he has become a morning person. “I don’t wake up late anymore—unless I get home very late.”

Barbie Forteza keeps her mornings balanced by running before breakfast

Barbie, who cheerfully greeted everyone with a “Happy World Egg Day,” prefers her eggs scrambled.

“If I’m just staying at home the whole day, I eat eggs both for breakfast and dinner. It really completes the meal for me,” she explained.

Eggs remind her of her childhood. “I always remember fried eggs—very nostalgic. Then I would dip it in bread,” she recalled. “I was always the first to wake up at home, so that’s what I could cook. That’s always been my breakfast.”

These days, Barbie begins her mornings quietly. “After turning off my alarm, I like to just sit quietly with myself for at least five minutes—just absorbing everything and preparing myself for the day,” she shared. “When I have no work that morning, I usually run. I love to run. That’s why a good breakfast is important to me—and of course, that comes with eggs.”

David Licauco begins his mornings with a workout, meditation, and reading to stay focused and energized

David, who deals with sleep apnea, described mornings as a challenge. “The first thing I feel in the morning is that I can’t breathe properly. But I try to keep myself busy and productive,” he explained.

He starts his mornings with a workout to lift his mood. “Usually, I’m in a bad mood in the morning. So what I do is work out right away. After working out, I take a cold shower, meditate, and read a book to stimulate my brain,” he shared. “I recommend that people also try this routine—work out, meditate, and take a cold shower—to stay more alert and healthy.”

David, who runs food businesses, is currently reading Unreasonable Hospitality. “It’s about altering your algorithm, but at the same time, it reminds you to go back to your why,” he explained. When it comes to eggs, he prefers them “scrambled and slightly runny.”
