PUP inaugurates new Open University System building, expands access to flexible learning

A new chapter opens for the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) with the formal inauguration of its Open University System (OUS) Building, a milestone facility designed to scale open learning, collaboration, and innovation across the university’s network.

The multi-level complex will serve as a hub for distance education and lifelong learning, housing smart classrooms, faculty collaboration spaces, and student support areas tailored for hybrid and online delivery. University officials led the ribbon-cutting and walk-through, underscoring PUP’s drive to make higher education more accessible, flexible, and responsive to working learners, professionals upskilling for new careers, and Filipinos studying from the regions or overseas.

The OUS Building strengthens PUP’s capacity to offer micro-credentials, postgraduate programs, and certificate courses that blend academic rigor with industry-relevant skills—delivered through digital platforms and on-site intensives. It also provides upgraded studios and training rooms to bolster content production, research dissemination, and partnerships with government, industry, and international institutions.

Beyond infrastructure, the launch signals a student-first approach: improved enrollment and advising services for online learners, expanded digital library access, and enhanced tech support to ensure continuity of learning regardless of location.

With the Open University System’s new home now operational, PUP doubles down on its public mission—bringing quality, affordable education within reach of more Filipinos while preparing them for a rapidly changing world.
