VP Sara confident she won’t be linked to flood control issue

Vice President Sara Duterte on Thursday expressed confidence that she will not be implicated in the anomalous flood control projects.

During her World Pandesal Day appearance in Quezon City’s Kamuning Bakery, Duterte emphasized that there were no insertions of flood control projects in the Office of the Vice President (OVP) and the Department of Education (DepEd), where she served as the secretary for two years.

“First of all, there are no flood control projects in the OVP or the Department of Education. And the contractors and even Secretary Bonoan can really say, I really don’t have any projects in the DPWH (Department of Public Works and Highways),” Duterte said in a mix of English and Filipino.

“I think they will try to link it to me because Sen. Bong Go is an ally of former president Rodrigo Duterte. That’s probably where they will create a story,” she added.

Her statement comes in response to claims about contractor firm CLTG Builders, which is allegedly linked to Go and has close ties with contractor couple Cezarah “Sarah” and Pacifico “Curlee” Discaya.

The Vice President also questioned President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s confidence in light of his assurances that the Office of the President would not be implicated in the ongoing flood control investigations.

“So that means he probably already knows the outcome of the inquiry and the investigation because there’s no other explanation for why you’re so confident about what’s going to happen,” Duterte said.
