Number of ‘frequently’ stressed Filipinos rose since 2019 — SWS

Around a third (34 percent) of adult Filipinos experience stress frequently in their daily lives, according to the findings of leading survey research institute Social Weather Stations (SWS).

The national Social Weather Survey conducted from September 24 to 30, 2025, found that the percentage of those who experience stress frequently rose by 7 points from only 27 percent in December 2019.

Meanwhile, 32 percent of respondents said they experience stress sometimes, 30 percent rarely, and 4 percent never.

The September 2025 survey also found that a majority (53 percent) experience big stress related to finances, 42 percent to health, 39 percent to job/school, and 38 percent to family.

SWS likewise reported that 41 percent of women experience stress frequently daily, compared to 27 percent of men.

Among the surveyed regions, Metro Manila showed the highest frequency of stress at 50 percent, compared to 36 percent in Balance Luzon (Luzon outside Metro Manila), 28 percent in Mindanao, and 26 percent in the Visayas. Moreover, Metro Manila respondents reported higher stress levels across all four factors (finances, health, job/school, and family) compared to other areas.

SWS conducted its Third Quarter 2025 Social Weather Survey using face-to-face interviews of 1,500 adults nationwide: 300 in Metro Manila, 600 in Balance Luzon, and 300 each in the Visayas and Mindanao. The sampling error margins are ±3% for national percentages, ±4% for Balance Luzon, and ±6% each for Metro Manila, Balance Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao.
