Sy named Management Person of the Year 2025

SM Prime Holdings executive committee chair Hans Sy was named the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) Management Person of the Year 2025 in recognition of his exemplary leadership, corporate stewardship and contributions to nation-building.

The prestigious award, which has been conferred only 49 times in the organization’s six-decade history, honors individuals in business or government who have demonstrated integrity, management excellence and a record of achievements that have advanced national progress and shaped values in Philippine society.

MAP cited Sy for his lifelong commitment to environmental stewardship, social inclusion, good governance and resilience—principles he has championed through SM Prime’s integrated ESG+R framework. Under his leadership, the company has become a benchmark for sustainable and resilient urban development.

Sy was also recognized for his people-centered leadership and advocacy for diversity, particularly in fostering a corporate culture that promotes employee welfare, professional growth, and work-life balance, consistent with the UN Global Compact Women’s Empowerment Principles.

Reacting to the award, Sy cited SM’s responsibility to support the nation.

“I have never seen myself as someone deserving of awards or recognition. I simply try to do my part. What matters most to me is using what we build to make a difference in our country,” said Sy.

“At SM, it has long been our responsibility to create spaces that protect people, support communities, and help Filipinos stand stronger for the future,” he said.
