Prime Energy Resources Development B.V. (Prime Energy) is spearheading a new era in the Philippines’ energy exploration industry, with a commitment to help secure energy independence through the continued development of indigenous gas resources.
The subsidiary of businessman Enrique Razon Jr.’s Prime Infrastructure Capital Inc. is focusing on developing domestic natural gas as a “bridge” in the energy transition to support the Philippines’ renewable energy goals and ensure a stable power supply, said Prime Energy president and chief executive Donnabel Kuizon Cruz.
“In this era of energy transition, where risks are real and opportunities are emerging across a shifting power map, our task is clear: to make our very own Filipino gas a bridge that unifies the industry and serves as a force for good for Filipinos,” Cruz said during the PowerTrends 2025 International Business Forum on Oct. 2, 2025.
She said indigenous gas production stabilizes power reliability and cost, and is one of the government’s key revenue sources and economic enablers. She cited the Malampaya Phase 4 (MP4) project as the first step of an “all-Filipino-led consortium” to revive exploration.
