The Social Security System (SSS) has launched a new, dual-function MySSS Card to streamline how Filipino workers, pensioners and beneficiaries access their social security benefits and financial services.
The rollout follows a directive from Department of Finance Secretary and Social Security Commission ex-officio chair Ralph Recto on Sept. 8, 2025, to provide faster services to members, the SSS said in a statement Wednesday.
The MySSS Card serves two purposes: it acts as an official ID, replacing the older Unified Multi-Purpose Identification (UMID) card and functions as a fully operational debit card linked to a savings account, according to SSS president and chief executive Robert Joseph Montes De Claro.
The card is equipped with an EMV chip and integrated with the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) eVerify and biometric authentication. This integration provides a safe and convenient way for members to access SSS benefits and loans and manage daily financial transactions, De Claro said.
It merges social security benefits with digital banking, allowing quick and convenient access to benefits, loans and pensions. Members can also use the card for shopping, public transport fares and online purchases, De Claro said.
The MySSS Card will be issued exclusively through SSS partner banks, starting with Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC). Other banks, including Asia United Bank (AUB), China Bank and Union Bank of the Philippines, will join the program later.
The MySSS Card will automatically serve as the main disbursement account for SSS members.
“Once members apply for the MySSS Card, we will link their partner bank savings accounts to SSS for benefits, loans, and other proceeds. They no longer need to enroll the MySSS Card in the Disbursement Account Enrollment Module,” De Claro said.
SSS began accepting applications on Oct. 1, 2025, with RCBC’s digital arm, DiskarTech, as the first implementer.
“The SSS and RCBC partnership marks a significant milestone in the digital transformation of government services,” he said.
“The MySSS Card’s rollout will expand as more partner banks join the program,” said De Claro.
