Marikina councilor decries smear campaign via AI-manipulated photo

A councilor from Marikina City has strongly condemned the spread of an AI-manipulated image linking her to the controversy involving Marikina 1st District Rep. Marcy Teodoro, describing it as “malicious, below the belt, and a blatant act of black propaganda.”

“Such accusations are sad, insulting, and annoying. Your rudeness is below the belt,” said Marikina 2nd District Councilor Jaren Feliciano.

Feliciano said the photo shared by the Facebook group Marikina Daily News was generated through artificial intelligence.

The city councilor then presented the original image alongside the fake post.

“This AI-generated image being circulated is evidently defamatory and offensive. It is fabricated, even if it is AI-produced,” she remarked.

She warned those behind the black propaganda against using her image for political mudslinging, particularly in attempts to destroy Teodoro.

“Please stop it. Stop your attempts to malign others. Do not involve me. We are not props, we are not meme material, and we are not tools in your gimmicks,” she stressed.

Feliciano also defended the lawmaker, saying she holds him in high regard and insisting that all allegations against him are false.

“I have a lot of respect for Cong. Marcy Teodoro and Mayor Maan Teodoro. People who know me know, and I’m sure they will be the first to say that the lies you are throwing about this, especially Cong Marcy, are untrue,” she pointed out.
