DA regional executive director Rose Mary Aquino said corn accounted for a larger chunk of the losses at  ₱117 million.

The local livestock industry also suffered losses estimated at ₱301,000, while damage to high-value fruits and vegetables amounted to ₱1.1 million.

Damage to agricultural infrastructure and equipment was placed at ₱640,000.

Cagayan was the worst-hit province in northern Luzon in terms of agricultural losses estimated at ₱324 million in rice crops, followed by Isabela with ₱121 million.

The DA said Cagayan’s agricultural output was set back by around P1.4 billion as a result of at least four tropical storms that recently pounded northern Luzon.

Farmers affected by “Nando” are now receiving aid from the provincial government, with President Marcos giving assurance of continued support.
