The Philippines has signed separate memoranda of understanding (MOU) with the governments of Hungary on climate change and Togo on political consultations on the sidelines of the 80th United States General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, United States.
Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Theresa Lazaro said the MOU on climate change she signed with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó reflects a shared commitment by both countries to environmental cooperation.
“Our meeting also continues our work for deeper political, economic, and labor ties,” Lazaro said in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on September 25 in New York (September 26 in the Philippines).
Lazaro also highlighted that the MOU with Togo Foreign Minister Robert Dussey on political consultations marks a new chapter in the diplomatic relations between Manila and Lomé.
“Looking forward to dialogue and collaboration in various fields of mutual interest,” the Filipino top diplomat said.
The Philippines and Hungary will celebrate their 52nd anniversary of diplomatic relations on September 28, while the Philippines and Togo recently marked 25 years of bilateral engagements last August 24.
