Filipina-American Jessica Sanchez was named the winner of “America’s Got Talent,” completing a nearly two-decade journey from contestant to champion on the competition series.
On Wednesday, Sept. 24, the Texas-born singer, who first auditioned for “AGT” in 2006 as a kid, returned this season and captured the title while nine months pregnant with her first daughter. Her victory earns her a $1 million prize.
During the Tuesday’s episode, Jessica delivered a powerful rendition of “Die With A Smile” by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars, gaining praise from the judges and the audience. Sofía Vergara hailed the performance as “perfection.
“You look like a little pregnant angel. I mean you look beautiful, your voice, I’ve never heard anything like that. Bravo Jessica,” she said.
Meanwhile, Simon Cowell praised her arrangement and vocal strength, calling it her best performance yet on the show.
Jessica’s victory was described by fans online as a comeback story, nearly 20 years in the making.
