Sophia Laforteza, leader of rising multinational girl group KATSEYE, voiced support for Filipinos who joined nationwide protests against alleged corruption in public works projects over the weekend.
Though unable to attend, Laforteza took to Instagram Stories on Monday, saying, “I am listening, I am aware, and I stand with you.” She added: “My heart is with my people. We all deserve a future built on truth, integrity and hope. Para sa ating bansa at para sa sambayanang Pilipino, we must always strive for what is just and fair.”

The 21-year-old singer, daughter of theater actress Carla Guevara Laforteza, also called the voice of the Filipino people “powerful and unshakable,” stressing her hope for a country “free from corruption, where accountability and compassion guide us forward.”
On Sunday, thousands gathered at the People Power Monument and Rizal Park in Manila, echoing anger over government officials and construction company owners linked to flood-control projects.
Laforteza debuted in KATSEYE through HYBE and Geffen Records’ survival program The Debut: Dream Academy. The group, behind hits “Touch” and “Gnarly,” recently won at the MTV Video Music Awards and is set to perform at Coachella in 2026.
