McDonald’s Philippines and Ronald McDonald House Charities opened the country’s 50th Bahay Bulilit Learning Center on Aug. 16, a milestone in their effort to expand early childhood education in the provinces.
The new center in Barangay Calumpang, Naval, Biliran, features colorful classrooms, a playground, a reading corner, and solar panels donated by RH Solar. Local artist Niño Torcuator added a mural depicting children at play alongside symbols of Biliran’s culture and history. The facility can accommodate up to 100 children each school year.
Officials from the Municipality of Naval, including Mayor Gretchen Espina and Vice Mayor Nick Arthur Parilla, joined McDonald’s Philippines executives led by managing director Margot Torres and RMHC leaders in turning over the center to the community. Coca-Cola Philippines and other partners were also present.

Children and families celebrated with games, storytelling, and meals courtesy of McDonald’s. Kindergarten teacher and content creator Jess Placencia led story sessions to inspire young learners.
“The turnover of the 50th Ronald McDonald Bahay Bulilit is a testament to what we can achieve when different sectors work together,” said Adi Hernandez, McDonald’s Philippines assistant vice president for corporate relations and RMHC vice president.
Since 2002, Bahay Bulilit centers have served as community learning hubs for children preparing to enter kindergarten and grade school. The 50 centers now operating across the country can support as many as 5,000 children annually.
