Organon is extending its campaign on family planning beyond August’s Family Planning Month, highlighting it as key to women’s empowerment, informed choices, and well-being.
The women’s health company said unplanned pregnancies, especially among teenagers, remain one of the Philippines’ most urgent public health concerns. More than 150,000 adolescent girls became pregnant or gave birth in 2022, according to the Commission on Population and Development.

Carole Lopez, Organon’s external affairs and communications lead, said access to education and reproductive health services can give women more control over their lives.
“Family planning isn’t just a medical service; it’s a foundational right that enables women to take charge of their lives,” Lopez said.
Former USAID Philippines deputy health director Dr. Yolanda E. Oliveros added that unplanned pregnancies affect more than physical health. “Helping women make thoughtful decisions about the timing and size of their families can reduce stress and promote mental well-being,” she said.
Organon said family planning allows women to pursue education, join the workforce, and contribute to their communities. It also helps ease social and economic pressures that can lead to anxiety and depression.
To tackle teenage pregnancy, Organon is working with local governments and communities through programs such as Her Plan is Her Power and Nanay’s Day Out, which provide age-appropriate, youth-friendly reproductive health services.
“We cannot talk about women’s empowerment without addressing the realities that young girls face,” Lopez said. “Teenage pregnancy is not just a health issue, it’s a social issue.”
Organon said its vision goes beyond products and includes stronger policies, better data, and giving women a voice in health decision-making. The company is working with healthcare professionals, community leaders, and policymakers to make family planning a standard of care.
“Every woman deserves the right to make informed choices about her body and her future,” Lopez said.
