Claudine Barretto is proudly reintroducing herself with a new name: Claudine Barretto Yan.
The actress shared the milestone on social media last September 13, posting a video montage of her memories with the late actor Rico Yan, her former reel-and-real partner, set to Ben&Ben’s “Sa Susunod na Habang Buhay.”
“Medyo nakakapagmove-on na ako. Na-accept ko na wala na siya; hindi siya babalik. Sa susunod na buhay, magkikita kami. Doon, matutuloy ‘yun,” she said in the video, reflecting on her journey more than two decades after Rico’s passing.
But Claudine explained that her new identity is less about revisiting the past and more about cherishing her bond with Rico’s family.
“It’s not about Rico anymore,” she wrote. “It’s about my love and relationship with his Mom, who has now accepted me as her daughter. Not as sister in law, not a daughter in law, but Sita Yan’s daughter.”
She also expressed gratitude for being embraced by Rico’s sisters, Tina and Geraldine, whom she now calls her “real sisters.”
“What once was just forgiveness is now a real family,” Claudine added.
