Masurf Inc., a subsidiary of Indonesian palm oil giant Musim Mas Group, signed a registration agreement with the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), accrediting the company as a new ecozone export enterprise at the Cocochem Agro-Industrial Park–Special Economic Zone (CAIP-SEZ) in San Pascual, Batangas.
“At a time when trade realignments are reshaping the global economy, the Philippines is poised to benefit as companies are seeking reliable partners in Asia. With Masurf Inc. choosing Batangas as its base, we are strengthening our position as a key supplier to the world,” PEZA said.
Signed on Sept. 3, 2025, the agreement allows the company to manufacture esterquat – an essential ingredient for fabric softeners – together with other quaternaries and tertiary amine derivatives.
Masurf will assume operations previously handled by Stephan Philippines Quaternaries Inc. (SPQI), ensuring the continuity of high-value chemical manufacturing and strengthening the Philippines’ foothold in the global export market.
PEZA director-general Tereso Panga said the company’s entry underscores investor confidence in the Philippines amid shifting global trade dynamics.
