The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has confirmed that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise ‘Liza’ Araneta-Marcos will undertake a State Visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia from September 7 to 9, 2025.
President Marcos will hold a bilateral meeting with the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, to discuss expanding cooperation in combating transnational crimes and enhancing connectivity.
Their discussions will also cover key sectors of agriculture, higher education, tourism, and cultural cooperation between the two countries.
“The President is expected to keynote a roundtable meeting with key business leaders from both countries to explore ways to diversify sources of goods and expand market access between the two countries, to increase bilateral and intra-ASEAN trade,” the DFA said in a statement.
President Marcos is also expected to meet with the Filipino community in Cambodia, which works mainly in education and services, and honor their contributions to the economic and socio-cultural development of both the Philippines and Cambodia.
To date, there are more than 7,000 Filipinos in Cambodia.
The First Couple embarks on this state visit upon the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.
This is to reciprocate the official visit made by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet to the Philippines in February 2025. The last state visit by a Philippine President to Cambodia took place in 2016.
The Philippines and Cambodia established formal diplomatic relations on August 20, 1957.
