BI checking if flood control mess respondents still in PH

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) on Friday confirmed that all 35 individuals whose names were included in an initial immigration lookout bulletin order (ILBO) for their alleged roles in the flood control corruption scandal remain in the country.

However, the bureau is still in the process of checking whether the personalities included in the second ILBO have not fled.

“The second batch of individuals included in ILBO was received only yesterday.  We are still waiting for the full list of the travel records of the individuals listed there,” BI spokesperson Dana Sandoval said.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) submitted that second batch of names to be placed in the ILBO on Thursday, the BI said.

A total of 43 individuals allegedly involved in the questionable projects are under the second batch of ILBO.

Sandoval said the bureau is currently checking their travel records.

“Some of the 35 personalities in the first batch of lookout order have left the country late August but have returned already and have not left yet as per our records,” she added.

However, Sandoval declined to reveal the names of the individuals who flew out of the country but returned.

BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said the ILBO is for monitoring purposes only and doesn’t prevent individuals from departing the Philippines without a Hold Departure Order (HDO).

The investigation is ongoing, and the BI is working closely with the Department of Justice and other agencies to ensure that those involved are held accountable.
