WNCAA opens 56th season on Sept. 6 with 3×3 caging

The 56th season of the Women’s National Collegiate Athletic Association will continue having 3×3 basketball in its calendar of activities.

“It is now on its second year as a regular sport. But this time, with more participants in the midget (elementary) division,” said WNCAA chairperson Vivian Manila.

Games in 3×3 basketball will be the first to be held when the season opens on Sept. 6 at the Makati Coliseum.

Manila and WNCAA execs discussed the staging of the new season, hosted by Assumption College, during its launch inside the AC campus in Makati City, where school representatives, athletes, coaches and league officials gathered to celebrate the start another year of sporting activities, with the theme, “Breaking Barriers, Building Legacies.”

This season, the league has 16 active members and 38 associate schools participating nationwide.

Activities will include basketball, volleyball and futsal, along with badminton, chess, taekwondo and poomsae.

There’s also table tennis, lawn tennis, cheerleading, street dance and cheerdance.

Games will be held in the elementary, high school and collegiate levels.
