The Bureau of Customs (BOC) reported late Tuesday it has secured 12 luxury cars owned by controversial business couple, Sarah and Curlee Discaya, following a search operation earlier this morning.
The vehicles have been sealed except three, which were located in authorized service centers for repairs, but would eventually be surrendered to the BOC.
The automobiles were placed under round-the-clock security by Customs personnel and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) pending results of ongoing investigation.
BOC chief Ariel Nepomuceno together with members of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) served a search warrant on the properties traced to the corporate office St. Gerrard Construction firm, one of the companies owned by the Discayas in Pasig City.
The operation was carried out amid allegations of corruption, which is the subject of ongoing multi-agency probe after reports of ‘ghost’ and substandard flood control projects bagged by greedy and dynastic construction firms came to light.
