The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Tuesday served a search warrant for 12 luxury cars in a Pasig City property owned by the Discaya family.
BOC Chief of Staff Jek Casipit said the warrant identified 12 vehicles for which the BOC had no records.
Sara Discaya and husband Curlee Discaya, who owns the St. Gerrard Construction and Development Corp. and eight other construction companies that cornered multiple infrastructure contracts from the government, admitted in a Senate hearing that they owned a fleet of luxury cars.
Casipit said the 12 out of the 28 luxury cars owned by the Discayas appear to have no importation records.

“We have probable cause that the import duties and taxes may not have been paid correctly,” he said.
The BOC official explained that it would take time to verify if the cars were imported legally and if the appropriate duties and taxes were settled.
Casipit said that their presence on the Discaya property was solely authorized for the purpose of carrying out the search warrant on Tuesday morning.
BOC agents tried to serve the warrant on two occasions on Monday night, but the officials were denied access to the property on both attempts, he added.
It was not clear whether the BOC found or confiscated the subjects of its search warrant.
