The new season once again follows Arisu, played by Kento Yamazaki, and Usagi, portrayed by Tao Tsuchiya, as they are pulled back into the Borderland after narrowly escaping. This time, Usagi is abducted and Arisu returns to rescue her, but the two are separated into different teams to face new high-stakes games, including the long-awaited “Joker” stage.

“Since Arisu and Usagi are split into separate teams, I found it interesting to see the different atmospheres and character dynamics,” Yamazaki said.

Tsuchiya added that she revisited earlier episodes to ground her performance, noting that the new season features an original storyline beyond the manga.

Netflix said Season 3 promises its most dramatic visuals yet, including a shrine sequence where flaming arrows rain down and a dice game that tests the players’ will to survive.

Alice in Borderland Season 3 begins streaming Sept. 25 on Netflix.
