House Senior Deputy Speaker David Suarez on Tuesday said the latest WR Numero Research survey showing that nearly seven in 10 Filipinos (68 percent) are satisfied with their congressional district representatives is a clear affirmation of the leadership of Speaker Martin Romualdez and the continuing trust of Filipinos in their congressional representatives.
“This survey result underscores the confidence of our people not just in their local representatives, but in the collective leadership of Speaker Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez. His steady hand and vision for a Bagong Pilipinas guide the House of Representatives to remain focused on the needs of our communities,” Suarez said.
According to the Senior Deputy Speaker, strong ratings reflect the importance of constituency support in Philippine democracy.
“The role of a congressman goes beyond lawmaking inside the halls of Batasan. It is about being present in the lives of our constituents — listening to their needs, finding solutions to their daily struggles, and ensuring that government resources are delivered to the grassroots. That is the essence of representation,” Suarez said.
“Nation-building begins in every district. When Filipinos feel that their voices are heard and their welfare is protected, it strengthens not only our democracy but also our collective drive to move the country forward,” he added.
The WR Numero survey, conducted from July 29 to August 6, showed 68 percent approval for district representatives, with only 7 percent dissatisfied and another 7 percent saying they do not know their congressman.
“As this survey reminds us, trust is earned by service. Under Speaker Romualdez, the House will remain a true House of the People — responsive, compassionate, and committed to building a stronger nation,” Suarez concluded.
