Smart launches KiQ, app-based telco service for Gen Z market

Smart Communications Inc. has launched KiQ, the Philippines’ first fully app-based mobile service, offering customizable plans aimed at Gen Z users.

KiQ allows subscribers to select their own data allocation, calls, and texts, and plan validity through its slider interface. Users can also choose their own number and adjust services based on their needs.

The service uses a QR-less eSIM activation, enabling subscribers to download and activate the eSIM directly through the KiQ app. A one-time registration is required before use.

KiQ also offers prioritized network access in high-traffic areas, such as concerts, malls, campuses, and city centers, to maintain faster browsing and more stable connections during peak usage times.

Smart said the launch comes as demand grows for self-service mobile solutions among tech-savvy customers with mobile lifestyles.
