Japanese firm Kintsugi plan to invest in a data center in the Philippines, according to the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT).
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said he signed a memorandum of understanding with Teo Teck San, managing director of Kintsugi, that marks an important step for the digital future.
“The primary goal of this partnership is to establish a framework for cooperation on Kintsugi’s proposed investment in the development, construction and operation of a data center in the Philippines,” Aguda said in a social media post.
He said the MOU also sets the stage for strategic collaboration to support the digitization of public sector and accelerate the adoption of AI, cybersecurity, cloud infrastructure and other advanced technologies in critical areas of national development.
“This is more than just infrastructure, it’s about building stronger foundations for e-governance and opening doors for innovation that will benefit every Filipino,” said Aguda.
“Together with partners like Kintsugi, let’s build a smarter and more connected Philippines,” he said.
