THE city government of Manila announced on Wednesday its partnership with a privately owned information technology company in a bid to assist senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) among its residents.
In a message, Manila Vice Mayor Chi Atienza said the collaboration with Nexus Technologies Inc. was meant to create opportunities to a better life for the underscrved sectors of society.
“We were invited by the owner of Nexus Technology Inc. to collaborate on our project to teach our brothers and sisters with disabilities and senior citizens the skills that they can use to find jobs online,” Atienza said.
The tie-up also seeks to address the growing need for mental health support by creating a hotline service for Manila residents experiencing mental or emotional distress.
The initiative is aligned with the city government’s commitment to promote the welfare of the elderlies.
Meanwhile, Atienza called on her constituents to support the new initiative to promote a more compassionate community.
For its part, Nexus Technologies, Inc. committed resources to ensure that senior citizens and PWDs will adapt to the digital age where they will be given a chance to grow and be productive. Will bring opportunities to citizens restoring hope in their families.
