Three Filipino favorites — arroz caldo, lugaw, and champorado — have earned spots on TasteAtlas’ list of the Top 100 Porridges in the World.
Arroz caldo placed second overall, praised for its ginger-based broth and tender chicken, typically served with calamansi, scallions, or garlic chips.

Lugaw followed at 10th place, highlighted as a comforting porridge often eaten for breakfast or served to those recovering from illness.

Champorado, the chocolate-flavored glutinous rice porridge traditionally paired with milk and dried fish, landed 19th on the list.

Indonesia’s bubur ayam, a chicken congee, took the top spot.
TasteAtlas, an online food and travel guide, has previously recognized Filipino cuisine. In October 2024, it named chicken inasal the country’s top dish.
