PhilHealth members eligible for P20k worth of meds annually

Filipinos can now get up to P20,000 worth of essential outpatient medicines every year through a new nationwide program of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

The enhanced PhilHealth Guaranteed and Accessible Medications for Outpatient Treatment, or PhilHealth GAMOT, is part of the larger PhilHealth YAKAP initiative, highlighted by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. in his recent State of the Nation Address.

PhilHealth GAMOT covers 75 types of medications for common conditions, including infections, asthma, diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, heart diseases, and nervous system disorders.

To access PhilHealth GAMOT, members must register at their preferred PhilHealth YAKAP Clinic.

After a medical assessment, their primary care physician issues a prescription containing a Unique Prescription Security Code.

Beneficiaries can present the prescription and a government-issued ID at any accredited GAMOT facility.

“In 2023, we launched PhilHealth GAMOT, but it was implemented only in a few provinces. That is why we have now expanded it. Every Filipino has the right to access the medicines they need without bearing the heavy cost out of their own pocket,” said Acting PhilHealth President and CEO Dr. Edwin M. Mercado.

Members are reminded to update their records to ensure smooth transactions when availing benefits.

PhilHealth encourages beneficiaries to reach out to its 24/7 touch points for guidance on the program.
