The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) announced on Wednesday the dismantling of a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGO) operating in a residential property in Davao City.
In a statement, NBI Director Jaime Santiago vowed to pursue and dismantle all remaining POGOs in the country.
In the latest incident, the NBI-Southeastern Mindanao Regional Office (NBI SEMRO XI) arrested 8 Chinese nationals and seized 10 personal computers and multiple mobile phones that were used to facilitate prohibited gaming operations.
The NBI has uncovered “an emerging pattern in illegal POGO activities where operators have begun splitting into smaller groups and moving into residential areas to avoid detection,” Santiago said.
As such, he urged the public to report suspicious activities in their communities to help stop illegal offshore gaming operations as well as the crimes attached to them.
Santiago also praised the efforts of NBI agents under Regional Director Atty. Arcelito C. Albao’s leadership.
In 2024, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. banned all POGOs in the country, noting that it has disrespected the laws and system in the country.
