Pens. Paper. A snowbound library in the clouds. Wes Anderson is back with Montblanc, and he’s making writing feel cool again.
His new short film, Let’s Write, is basically a whimsical fever dream — mountaineers in perfect color-coordinated outfits (Anderson, Rupert Friend, Michael Cera) hanging out in the Montblanc Observatory High-Mountain Library. Think “study sesh” but make it cinematic.

This sequel to last year’s collab for the Meisterstück’s 100th anniversary isn’t just about pens — it’s about the act of writing like it’s a small rebellion in a swipe-scroll world.
The story bounces between surreal sets, including the Montblanc Voyage of Panorama, a staged train rolling through imaginary landscapes. Each stop? A mood: pause, think, write.
Props (aka brand cameos) drop in like Easter eggs — a fountain pen Anderson designed himself, a portable writing table, a bag for your next “I’m running away to write a novel” trip.

Co-directed with Roman Coppola, and styled to perfection with Anderson’s usual symmetry and pastels, the project also ropes in Joey King, Daniel Brühl, Jing Boran, and Xin Zhilei for the campaign visuals.
The takeaway? Writing isn’t dusty or outdated. It’s an aesthetic. It’s an escape. And yes, it’s way cooler than you think.
