Villar climbs to Bloomberg’s list of top 100 billionaires

Filipino real estate magnate Manuel Villar Jr. has emerged as the only Filipino to make it to the top 100 of Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, a ranking of the world’s 500 richest people based on their total net worth.

Villar placed 99th on the list with a net worth of $23.1 billion, up $617 million or 2.7 percent from last year.

His wealth is mainly tied to his large real estate and property development businesses.

Ports and casino tycoon Enrique Razon Jr. was also included in the list, ranking 239th with a net worth of $12.3 billion, an increase of $2.96 billion from the previous year.

Villar owns several listed companies including Vista Land & Lifescapes Inc., Golden MV Holdings, the largest death care company in the Philippines, which was recently renamed Villar Land Holdings Corp.

The company is leading the development of the 3,500-hectare Vilar City.
