A total of 15 fishermen were rescued after their vessel, which suffered engine trouble off the coast of Zambales, was successfully towed to safety over a two-day operation from August 2 to 3, the Philippine Navy (PN) said in a statement on Wednesday.
Responding to a distress call from the captain of FB Moises, the Navy deployed two assets, Multi-Purpose Attack Craft (MPAC) BA492 and tugboat YT207, to tow the vessel despite rough seas.
The following day, MPAC BA488 joined the operation to complete the towing of the disabled fishing vessel to Calapandayan Fish Port in Subic.
All 15 crew members were confirmed safe and were given medical assistance and support upon arrival.
The Navy said the successful rescue “highlights its commitment to protecting Filipino fishermen and ensuring maritime safety in coordination with local maritime stakeholders.”
