Malacañang on Friday welcomed the latest OCTA Research survey showing an increase in the trust ratings of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., attributing the rise to the public’s growing awareness of the President’s work ethic and governance style.
In a media briefing, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Undersecretary Claire Castro said the survey results likely reflect the public’s recognition of Marcos’ efforts and visibility in carrying out his duties.
“First of all, the people can probably see what the President is really doing,” Castro said.
“It’s delightful to see that they are recognizing how hardworking the President is for the people and for the country,” she added.
While the Palace emphasized that President Marcos is not swayed by survey numbers, Castro said it is still encouraging to see positive feedback from the public.
“It’s more difficult when the rating goes down despite working, but it’s more burdensome when someone isn’t working but their rating is going up,” she stated.
She also pointed to improvements in public messaging as a contributing factor to the rise in trust ratings, saying the administration has become more effective in showcasing the President’s activities and engagements.
“Our countrymen can now see where the President is going,” she said.
“Before, he would just work and work. He wasn’t too particular about whether the public saw it. But with this, it really needs to be seen by the public so they know and can differentiate between someone who is working and someone who is just on vacation,” Castro added.
The Palace did not disclose the specific figures from the OCTA survey, but said the data serves as motivation for the administration to continue its programs with transparency and accountability.
