Nafarrete emphasizes people-centered leadership at first command conference

Newly-installed Philippine Army chief Lt. Gen. Antonio G. Nafarrete led his first command conference on August 1 at the Army headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City, setting the tone for his leadership anchored on the principle: “Our People is Our Strength.”

Addressing key Army leaders—including office chiefs, specialized enablers, and commanders of Philippine Army-wide support and separate units—Nafarrete underscored that the organization’s most vital asset remains its personnel, from enlisted soldiers on the ground to officers at the helm.

“We will cultivate a resilient, adaptable and highlight (an) effective unit, ready to overcome any challenge and achieve every mission,” the Army chief remarked as he outlined his guidance that will serve as a compass for the 110,000-strong organization.

Nafarrete also laid out his strategic priorities, which include enhancing training and development, improving troop welfare and morale, promoting merit-based opportunities, and reinforcing discipline and accountability across the ranks.

He further outlined operational goals for critical command functions, including Intelligence, Operations, Logistics, Civil-Military Operations, Reservist Affairs, Financial Management, and Command and Control, Communications, and Cyber Systems (C4S).

Concluding the conference, Nafarrete issued a clear directive for the Army to remain steadfast in its mission to provide responsible, credible, and capable support to the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ unified commands, in line with the its campaign plan “Tatag Kapuluan” (Strength of the Archipelago).
