Skincare pop-up brings mochi-mochi concept to Manila

Japanese skincare brand Hada Labo opened its first pop-up event in the Philippines with the launch of the Mochi-Mochi Hydration Lab, held at Mitsukoshi BGC Mall.

The multi-sensory exhibit, open until Aug. 3, introduces the brand’s Hydrating Lotion to Filipino consumers through interactive installations focused on skincare education and product trials. The event is inspired by the Japanese beauty concept of “mochi skin,” which emphasizes hydration and a soft, supple appearance.

At the center of the exhibit is Hada Labo’s Hydrating Lotion, formulated with five types of hyaluronic acid designed to deliver moisture, minimize fine lines, and support the skin’s barrier. According to the brand, the lotion is free of fragrance, alcohol, colorants, and mineral oil, and is suitable for sensitive skin.

Visitors can participate in three interactive stations: an educational wall explaining the functions of hyaluronic acid, a molecule-sorting game that simulates skin absorption, and a moisture test that allows guests to try the lotion and receive product recommendations from brand representatives.

Attendees who complete all activities receive free samples and promotional items. Additional merchandise from Hada Labo and Skin Aqua is available for purchase onsite. Those who meet a minimum spend can also participate in a gacha machine activity offering limited-edition products.

The BGC pop-up is the first in a planned series of activations across the country. Hada Labo said it will announce future events on its social media channels.
