#WalangPasok: Habagat, SONA pause onsite classes on July 28

Several local government units (LGUs) have announced class suspensions for Monday, July 28, as the southwest monsoon (habagat) enhanced by tropical cyclone ‘Emong’ continues to bring heavy rains across many parts of the country, particularly in Luzon.

In Metro Manila, the Malabon City government deferred face-to-face classes from kindergarten to senior high school in public schools, including the Alternative Learning System (ALS).

The Ilocos Region is also implementing widespread suspensions in the wake of recent storms:

  • La Union – face-to-face classes in all levels are suspended in both public and private schools; college-level students will shift to asynchronous learning.
  • Pangasinan – class suspensions are in effect in several municipalities:
    • Lingayen (all levels, public and private)
    • Bani (face-to-face classes suspended from July 28 to August 1)
    • Anda (all levels suspended from July 28 to July 30)
    • Calasiao, Aguilar, and Mangaldan (all levels, public and private)

Local government offices in Mangaldan and Lingayen, Pangasinan will also be closed on Monday due to the ongoing inclement weather.

In Central Luzon, two towns in Pampanga have declared class suspensions:

  • Apalit and Masantol – face-to-face classes in all levels, public and private

In the Calabarzon region, classes at all levels in private and public schools remain suspended in Kawit, Cavite.
