NGCP restores transmission line in Northern Luzon affected by typhoons

Another transmission line affected by the recent series of tropical storms and the intensified southwest monsoon in Northern Luzon has been restored, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said Saturday.

In an advisory, NGCP said the Bacnotan-Bulala 69-kilovolt (kV) line is now back online, restoring power to customers of the La Union Electric Cooperative (LUECO).

“The Bauang-San Fernando 115kV Line is partially energized by NGCP, with the remaining customer-owned and maintained portion still being repaired by LUECO,” the company added.

NGCP clarified that power interruptions may be caused by damage to either NGCP’s transmission facilities or the distribution facilities of electric cooperatives or local utilities. “Specific cities and municipalities affected by the power interruptions are determined by concerned distribution utilities, unless the outage affects the entire franchise area,” it said.

Meanwhile, the weather bureau reported in its 11 a.m. bulletin that Tropical Depression Emong has exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility. However, the southwest monsoon continues to bring rain to the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, Pangasinan, Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro.
