As P-pop groups continue to thrive in promoting Original Pilipino Music (OPM) locally, a new wave of Filipino talent is also emerging beyond Philippine borders, this time, as members of international pop groups. From Seoul to global stages, these young artists are proving that Filipino excellence belongs in the spotlight.
Over the last few years, more and more Pinoy artists have found their way not just into Korean idol groups but also into the global staging, proving that talent, determination, and a bit of luck can take you far. Here are some of the Filipino idols who’ve already made it and are proudly repping the Philippines in the world of music.
JL Gaspar of AHOF

JL first made a name for himself in the local music scene as part of PLUUS. But it was Universe League, a Korean survival show, that gave him a shot at something bigger. Competing against trainees from around the world, he earned a spot in AHOF, a nine-member group under F&F Entertainment. He debuted on July 1, 2025, with the mini-album Who We Are. JL is the group’s only Filipino member and brings years of vocal training and performance experience to the team.
Sophia Laforteza of KATSEYE

Sophia stood out on The Debut: Dream Academy, where her stage presence and consistent performances helped her land the top spot in the finale in November 2023. She debuted with KATSEYE on June 28, 2024, with their first single “Debut,” followed by the EP SIS (Soft Is Strong) in August. As the only Filipina in the group, she’s showing that someone from the Philippines can compete on a global stage and hold her own.
Chanty Videla of Lapillus

Chanty was already active in showbiz before K-pop came into the picture. She appeared in local TV dramas and had a growing fanbase in the Philippines. Born in Manila and raised partly in Argentina, she eventually trained under MLD Entertainment. Her background and language skills helped her adapt quickly, and she debuted with Lapillus on June 20, 2022. Since then, she’s balanced music promotions with TV appearances and modeling.
Elisia Parmisano, Gehlee Dangca, and Jin Hyeonju of UNIS

Elisia and Gehlee joined Universe Ticket with little experience in K-pop, but they gained attention as the show went on. Jin Hyeonju, who is half-Filipina and had trained with other groups before, completed the trio. All three made it into the final lineup of UNIS and debuted on March 27, 2024. It’s rare to see multiple Filipinas in one K-pop group, even more so when they make a strong debut and score a music show win soon after.
HORI7ON

HORI7ON was a big step for Filipino representation in K-pop. All seven members—Jeromy, Marcus, Vinci, Kyler, Reyster, Kim, and Winston—came from the Philippines and trained in Korea after being formed through the reality show Dream Maker. They officially debuted on July 24, 2023, with their album Friend-SHIP. As the first all-Filipino boy group to debut in Korea, they’ve shown that K-pop is becoming more inclusive than ever.
These idols didn’t just show up and get lucky. They trained, struggled, and pushed through a system that isn’t easy, especially for foreigners. Seeing a Filipino on a K-pop stage isn’t just exciting, it means something. It tells young fans back home that it’s possible. And now that Filipinos are finally being seen, it’s clear they’re not just here to watch. They’re here to take the spotlight.
