Avatar Studios has released the first official artwork for Avatar: Seven Havens, revealing the new Earthbender Avatar who will follow Korra in the beloved animated franchise.
Unveiled during the Avatar: The Last Airbender 20th anniversary panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the image features a young Earthbender accompanied by an animal companion and a mentor in a desert setting.
According to Entertainment Weekly and Polygon, the new series will explore a world where the Avatar is no longer seen as a savior, but feared as humanity’s destroyer. She is hunted by both human and spirit enemies.
The series is being developed by original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, who describe the show as “full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters.”
Avatar: Seven Havens will consist of two 13-episode seasons and marks the second sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender after The Legend of Korra.
The announcement comes as Netflix continues to expand the franchise with its live-action adaptation of the original series, which premiered earlier this year.
No official release date has been announced.
