There will be no water disconnection from July 25 until August 8 due to the non-payment of water bills by customers of the west zone Maynilad Water Services Inc. and the east zone Manila Water Company Inc. within their entire respective areas.
This came after the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) Regulatory Office on Friday announced it had directed the two water concessionaires to temporarily halt all service disconnection activities for unpaid bills.
However, it clarified that the directive does not cover disconnection cases involving water service tampering, violations of Republic Act 8041 or the Water Crisis Act, or other unlawful activities.
“At this critical time, when access to clean, safe, and reliable water is essential to protecting public health, the MWSS RO has likewise instructed the Concessionaires to ensure water supply availability for all customers,” the MWSS said.
“Rest assured that the MWSS RO will continue to implement proactive measures to support communities and protect consumer welfare, especially during this time of adversity,” it added.
