Interior Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic” Remulla on Wednesday apologized for his controversial posts on the department’s official social media page that drew flak due to their “joking” tone amid the inclement weather.
In an interview with GMA News, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) chief stated that he was not downplaying the public’s struggles, but rather trying to lighten their mood.
“Maybe they don’t understand me. I was just joking. I’m not belittling their suffering. All I’m doing is making the reminder lighter so that negative vibes don’t always come across,” Remula said.
“If they don’t understand, I apologize. But that’s just how I am. Whatever, just understand that I have no bad intentions,” he added.
Separate posts on DILG’s Facebook page on Tuesday read: “Mga abangers, may inaabangan ba kayo? Mamaya na kain muna ko” and “Mga abangers, sarap ng bogchi ko. Sa kabusugan ay nakaidlip nang sandali. Oh eto na inaabangan niyo!”
Remulla was referring to the announcement of class and work suspensions due to the impact of the bad weather caused by the southwest monsoon.
