The Department of Transportation (DOTr) said it teamed up with the Department of Education (DepEd) and the United Kingdom Embassy to develop a new transit hub within the 13-hectare DepEd Complex in Taguig City.
The agency said the strategic hub would seamlessly connect with both the Metro Manila Subway and the North-South Commuter Railway.
Dubbed the Senate DepEd Transit Oriented Development (SEED) Project, the initiative directly addresses President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s directive to improve daily commutes, especially for students.
Beyond just a transport hub, Project SEED aims to create an “Education City” featuring green spaces and educational facilities designed to promote public transport, walking and cycling.
DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said the initiative would benefit future projects, which could be patterned after Project SEED.
