PH, US armies launch Piston 25 joint exercise

SPECIAL Forces soldiers of the Philippines and their American counterparts have launched Balance Piston 25-1304 joint exercise at Fort Ramon Magsaysay to boost interoperability in unconventional warfare while strengthening defense ties between countries.

The bilateral training, which will run from July 14 to August 8, is part of the annual Balance Piston series described as “a long-standing collaboration designed to enhance both forces’ capabilities, share tactics and best practices, and reinforce their commitment to regional stability and mutual defense.”

This year’s program includes a wide range of specialized skills training, such as tactical combat casualty care, prolonged casualty care, combat and advanced marksmanship, unconventional warfare, reconnaissance, military free fall, mission planning, and the use of remote advisory technologies.

In his keynote speech, Colonel Randy Banaag, chief of the Philippine Army’s Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), highlighted the significance of the exercise.
