Food that connects cultures: A celebration of shared tradition

Every July, the Philippines commemorates Filipino-Japanese Friendship Month, a tribute to the enduring relationship shaped by cultural appreciation, diplomatic harmony, and shared traditions between the two nations.

At Newport World Resorts, the spirit of this friendship is brought to life through an array of events designed to immerse guests in the heart of Japanese and Filipino culture and heritage.

Leading the month-long festivity was Kaien—a formal start of a banquet, marked by greeting and toast at the Yawaragi restaurant of Hotel Okura Manila. The event was elevated with an art piece showcase of renowned curator Satoro Fujita, while taiko drum performances brought the tradition and artistry to a memorable peak.

Michelin Guide-listed Hotel Okura Manila also presents a series of exclusive culinary experiences this month in celebration of the enduring ties between the Philippines and Japan.
